The Streaming Service Gains a New Foothold In the Living Room Streaming Zone
Qobuz has launched its Android TV app, now available on the Google Play Store and across all TVs or models running Google TV, including older Android TV devices. Qobuz boasts high resolution and lossless music catalogue directly onto your own big screen at home.
Qobuz’s Chief Product Officer, Axel Destagnol, states that the Android TV release is one thing that users have been strongly anticipating. “This app embodies our desire to be accessible wherever people listen to music, from headphones to the living room, while preserving what makes Qobuz unique: audio quality and editorial richness.”
A beta version had been discreetly released last year, enabling early testers to try the big-screen interface and playback quirks before the recent full release.
The app serves up the complete Qobuz experience on TV, allowing users to browse playlists, its library of albums, editorial picks, along with your own personalized picks and recommendations included.
Each track streams in high resolution audio or CD-quality, depending on what an individual AV setup supports, and the new Qobuz Connect feature removes the issue of juggling remotes.
In March, Qobuz Connect went live and allows users to stream high resolution music directly from the Qobuz app to compatible devices, features that Spotify and Tidal already utilize. In conclusion, no AirPlay, Bluetooth, or third-party apps are required.
On the app, users can control playback from their phones or tablets while the music can continue playing through the TV.
With this move, Qobuz has been granted a stronger foothold in the living room streaming zone, one that is already well-dominated by Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.
