Purple Heart recipient and Black River recording artist Scotty Hasting is dedicating the month of November to amplifying his powerful message of resilience and healing through music. Kicking off the month with an impactful halftime performance at his hometown Cincinnati Bengals game for the NFL’s Salute To Service initiative on November 6th, Hasting is now in the midst of a media blitz centered around Veterans Day. His platform is anchored by his latest single, “Scars,” a track that offers a raw testament to survival following the injuries he sustained as an Army Infantryman in Afghanistan in 2011.
A Story of Grit Told Through Music
Hasting’s journey from recovery at Walter Reed to the stage began in 2020 when he first picked up a guitar. Since then, he’s shared stages with artists like Lee Brice and Dolly Parton (with whom he collaborated on “Til The Last Shot’s Fired”) and even made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2024 after being personally invited by Gary Sinise. His new song, “Scars,” co-written with Daniel Ethridge and Cole Phillips, walks listeners through the physical and emotional marks he carries, confronting the pain with unflinching honesty. Building on this momentum, he’s set to release the performance video for his soulful acoustic cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” on November 9th.
Veterans Day Spotlight
The week of Veterans Day is filled with key appearances highlighting Hasting’s dedication to fellow servicemen and women. On November 11th, the day includes a coveted performance at the Grand Ole Opry, a live interview on WKRN-TV Nashville’s “Local On 2,” and the broadcast premiere of “GRATEFUL: The Scotty Hasting Story” on The Country Network. He’s also participating in the Musicians On Call “Concert For Veterans.” These events continue his lifelong mission, which includes supporting vital organizations like the PenFed Foundation, CreatiVets, and Guitars 4 Vets. The media coverage extends further with features in Hook & Barrel Magazine and on The Scott Mann Podcast, plus a performance on November 12th for the 10th Annual America Salutes You Concert.

Scotty Hasting’s music is dedicated to promoting grit, resilience, and finding healing, proving that a powerful song can bridge the gap between service and civilian life. His recent activities and new single “Scars” offer a candid look at the veteran experience, inspiring audiences nationwide.
