A New Partnership Between the South Korean Musical Giant and the Chinese Musical Giant
HYBE’s Weverse, a South Korean entertainment platform behind the mega success of K-pop’s BTS, has crafted a musical bridge with China’s QQ Music. Weverse and QQ Music, China’s largest music streaming platform, have collaborated to create something incredible with similar musical goals in mind.
On Thursday, November 6th, Weverse announced its new collaboration with QQ Music. This partnership will allow Chinese users to make a subscription to Weverse DM, a premium service that offers one-on-one messaging with any artist directly through the QQ platform.
Weverse has formed strategic partnerships with two of China’s most prominent digital giants: Alibaba, which owns the e-commerce platform Tmall, and Tencent Music Entertainment, which owns QQ Music. Another part of Weverse’s expansion into China was the launch of Weverse Shop on Alibaba’s Tmall in June. The Tmall platform sells authentic merchandise from seventeen Weverse artists that Chinese customers can now access without previous hassle.
In just five months of operation, the Weverse shop earned the 2025 Supernova Brand from Tmall. It is a recognition given to overseas brands that present outstanding sales performances, fast growth, exceptional customer reviews, and high search volumes. Chinese fans are now purchasing Weverse merchandise through many channels such as Tmall, the Weverse app, or through PC.
The successful collaboration of Weverse and QQ Music promoted a vast increase in progress for HYBE’s international expansion strategy, which gained 11.6 million monthly active users globally for the Weverse platform in Q3 2025. That brought a 20% growth for Weverse, prompting Universal Music Group to make an undisclosed investment into last year.
