Virgin Music Group has renewed its partnership with Brazilian independent label GR6, and the agreement will continue well into the next decade. The relationship began in 2020, and since then both parties have steadily expanded GR6’s footprint. As a result, Brazilian artists now have stronger pathways to international audiences.
GR6’s Rise
GR6 rose quickly in Brazil’s independent scene. For example, IFPI named the label among Brazil’s Top 10 independent labels in 2024, and the label placed one of the country’s Top 10 songs of 2024 with “Let’s Go 4.” Rodrigo Oliveira leads GR6 as founder and CEO, and he has built a roster that includes Perera DJ, Nilo, MC PH, and DJay W. Moreover, the label combines street-level credibility with savvy marketing to grow artists’ careers.
Virgin Music Group praised GR6’s cultural impact and long-term vision. Cris Garcia Falcão, Virgin’s Latin America general manager, said Rodrigo “has built one of Brazil’s most important and enduring independent record labels” and noted the label’s influence in Brazil and beyond. Consequently, Virgin chose to deepen the partnership to amplify that momentum and invest in new global opportunities.
GR6 Historias Project
Meanwhile, GR6 is preparing GR6 Historias, a 60-track compilation that will re-record and reimagine many of the label’s hits. The collection will feature MC Livinho, MC Davi, MC Don Juan, MC Kevinho, MC Neguinho do Kaxeta, and others. In addition, GR6 assembles the project with KondZilla, a leading Brazilian music video producer and label executive. Rodrigo Oliveira said the compilation will showcase the label’s repertoire to fans around the world, and he thanked Virgin for five years of strong collaboration.
Together, Virgin and GR6 aim to convert local success into global traction. Therefore, artists should expect better distribution, targeted promotion, and more sync and touring opportunities. For listeners, GR6 Historias will offer a refreshed entry point into the energy and diversity of contemporary Brazilian music.
In short, the renewed alliance gives GR6 expanded resources and gives Virgin a firmer hold in Brazil’s vibrant independent scene. Ultimately, the partnership promises to bring more Brazilian music to global playlists and new audiences.
