LAS VEGAS – November 9, 2025 – The Latin Recording Academy® officially kicked off its Semana de la 26.a Entrega Anual del Latin GRAMMY® on Sunday, honoring a transcendent class of musical icons whose careers have not only defined genres but have also shaped the cultural landscape of Latin music globally. These legends were celebrated at the annual Special Awards Presentation, a foundational moment leading up to The Biggest Night in Latin Music®.
Receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award (Premio a la Excelencia Musical) were a powerhouse group of artists representing the sheer diversity and depth of the global Latin sound. The honorees included Afro-Peruvian icon Susana Baca, Spanish rock poet and perennial stadium-filler Enrique Bunbury, Brazilian bossa nova master Ivan Lins, the enduring Mexican pop trio Pandora, and the undisputed Queen of Merengue, Olga Tañón. Their collective influence spans decades and continents, underscoring the Academy’s mission to recognize musical greatness without borders.
In addition to the performers, the Academy also presented the Trustees Award (Premio del Consejo Directivo) to Eric Schilling, a multi-GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY-winning recording and mixing engineer whose technical mastery has been critical to countless landmark recordings.

Further cementing its commitment to the future of music, The Latin Recording Academy®, in partnership with the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®, honored Luciana Ortega as the inaugural recipient of the Latin Music Educator Award. This new accolade shines a spotlight on the vital role music teachers play in preserving and propagating Latin music traditions for the next generation.
The highly anticipated 26th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central) across TelevisaUnivision’s U.S. platforms.
