hicago-based Chicana and queer artist Mila La Morena has released her newest project, POST INTERNET — a bold and eclectic EP that reflects on growing up in a world shaped by technology, culture, and emotion. Following her earlier house track “ESPEJO,” Mila expands her sound with post-punk, glitch-pop, reggaeton, rock, and electronic influences, crafting a collection that’s as layered and dynamic as the experiences it captures.
Adolescence, Identity, and Staying Human Online
At its heart, POST INTERNET explores adolescence, identity, and the search for authenticity in a hyperconnected era. Through its shifting rhythms and textures, Mila reflects on how the internet has shaped creativity, relationships, and self-understanding for her generation. The lead single, “encaje blanco,” channels post-punk intensity, while “White Lace” brings a haunting mix of vulnerability and nostalgia, evoking the intimacy of queer female friendships and the tenderness of growing up. Each track feels like a snapshot of emotion — fleeting, expressive, and deeply personal.
Bridging Chicago and Mexico City
Mila’s music bridges her two worlds: the energy of Chicago’s DIY scene and the cultural pulse of Mexico City. Singing seamlessly in English and Spanish, she draws from both her Chicana roots and global sounds to create music that feels familiar yet entirely her own. Beyond her studio work, Mila is an active cultural organizer, producing independent shows across Chicago and performing at festivals such as Ruido Fest, Tomorrow Never Knows, and Villapalooza. She was also featured on Remezcla’s Nueva Música Friday playlist and appeared in the HBO Max series Amarres, marking key milestones in her creative journey.
With POST INTERNET, Mila La Morena continues to shape her artistic identity with honesty and intention. The EP invites listeners to pause, reflect, and reconnect — to find meaning and presence in the midst of a world that’s constantly online.
