America’s premiere vocal powerhouse, The Doo Wop Project, has released its fifth full-length album, Echoes of the Street, on October 10, 2025, via Joy Machine Records. Composed of five talented Broadway veterans—Charl Brown, Dwayne Cooper, John Dias, Russell Fischer, and Dominic Nolfi—the group is on a mission to reintroduce the timeless sound of doo wop to a new generation, bridging the genre’s golden-era harmonies with modern flair.
A Legendary Songwriter Collaboration
This new album marks a major milestone for the group: their first-ever original song, “Ooh Whee (That Doo Wop Song).” The track was written by legendary songwriter Elliot Lurie, frontman of Looking Glass and writer of the timeless hit “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl).”
The collaboration began unexpectedly when Lurie discovered the group on Spotify. As he shared, “It was doo wop—a sound I grew up with and have always loved—but reimagined with a fresh, modern twist and incredible vocals.” Musical director and producer Sonny Paladino noted that Lurie “knew he had the perfect song for us,” resulting in a collaboration that both parties are “really happy with.”

Bridging Classic Sound with Modern Pop
Echoes of the Street is a genre-bending project, drawing inspiration from the music energy of cities historically tied to doo wop, such as New York and Philadelphia. The 12-track album pays homage to the classics with renditions of songs like The Temptations’ “My Girl” and The Del-Vikings’ “Whispering Bells.”
However, the group’s unique strength lies in “doowopifying” modern smashes, including playful covers of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” Their dynamic approach ensures the music of the street corners feels both nostalgic and utterly new, reflecting the group’s commitment to the #SAVEDOOWOP movement.
