This October 10, 2025, marked an unforgettable night in Southern California, where La Original Banda El Limón de Salvador Lizárraga was the focus of an emotional celebration honoring their 60-year artistic career. The 9th Annual Recognition Night, organized by the Juguetón Casimirense Foundation and its founder Shy Gutierrez, became a cultural and philanthropic gala that not only applauded the band’s musical legacy but also their commitment to the community.
Recognition for a Historic Legacy
The pioneers of Banda music, founded in 1965, have left an indelible mark, not only through iconic hits but also by being the first group to revolutionize the genre by integrating professional sound systems and establishing the figure of the main vocalist. This commitment to excellence was recognized by several important cities. The City of El Monte presented a special distinction, while the Mayor of Lynwood, Rita Soto, granted the band the Key to the City, in honor of their six decades of artistic impact.

A Night of Tributes and Philanthropy
The tribute, held at the La Palma Event Center in El Monte, California, featured a moving acoustic tribute from recognized entertainment figures like Janet Uribe, Gustavo Rivera, and Fernando Vargas, who performed some of the group’s most emblematic songs. Beyond the cultural pride, the night had a noble purpose, as the Juguetón Casimirense Foundation continued its mission to raise funds and non-warlike toys for the children of Casimiro Castillo, Jalisco, uniting music and philanthropy.
The Grand Climax: The Official Day in Los Angeles
Juan Lizárraga, the band’s Musical Director, shared his gratitude upon receiving the honors: “Receiving these recognitions from cities as important as El Monte, Lynwood, and on Saturday the City of Los Angeles is something that fills us with pride and emotion. These are moments that confirm that all the effort, the years of work, and the love for our music have been worth it.” Lizárraga emphasized that the tribute is also for the fans who have accompanied them for six decades. The historic celebration will culminate on Saturday, October 11, in South Park, when the City of Los Angeles officially proclaims the “Día de La Original Banda El Limón” (Day of La Original Banda El Limón) during the Latino Carnaval of South Central, solidifying their status as a living legend and ambassador of regional Mexican music.
