A Gathering by the Sea for Music’s Future
Music Tectonics 2025 is set to make waves once again in Santa Monica, California, from November 4–6, bringing together the brightest minds and boldest innovators shaping the future of music technology. Known as the “conference by the sea,” Music Tectonics goes beyond typical industry events by exploring what’s next for music—beyond streaming, beyond AI, and into a more creative and connected future.
“People go to trade conferences to see where the industry is. You come to Music Tectonics to see where it’s going,” says Dmitri Vietze, founder of Music Tectonics. The conference is celebrated for its mix of visionary panels, hands-on workshops, and a dynamic startup competition, all set against the scenic Santa Monica coastline.
Exploring What’s Next in Music Tech
This year’s program features a strong focus on innovation and industry transformation. Panels will explore topics such as direct-to-fan e-commerce, gaming opportunities, and the evolving role of labels and publishers in a rapidly changing tech landscape. Tatiana Cirisano, VP of Music Strategy at MIDiA Research, will headline a fireside chat challenging the industry to think beyond streaming and reimagine how music can create value.
Representatives from leading companies including Riot Games, WMG, UMG, Roland, Shure, BMG, Create Music Group, and LyricFind will join investors from Sony Ventures, Patron, Connect Ventures, and Creator Partners to discuss the next frontier of music tech.
Spotlight on Startups and Innovation
The conference also celebrates entrepreneurship through its renowned Swimming With Narwhals startup competition, highlighting groundbreaking music-tech startups such as:
- Music League – A social platform where friends share and compete with playlists.
- Plates – Modern marketing tools built for music promotion.
- Roxxem – Language learning through interactive, music-based games.
- Sesh – A fan engagement platform that strengthens artist-to-audience connections.
A full day will be dedicated to startups, co-curated with Yamaha Music Innovations Fund, and will conclude with a startup bootcamp at Universal Music Group’s studios, where attendees can pitch directly to UMG executives and investors.
The Creator Fair Returns to the Santa Monica Pier
Music Tectonics will also host its second annual Creator Fair at the iconic Santa Monica Pier Carousel, bringing together creators, brands, and music makers in a vibrant networking hub designed to foster collaboration and inspiration.
Building Bridges Across the Music Industry
“Music Tectonics embraces all sides of the music business—from tech startups to global entertainment enterprises,” says Shayli Ankenbruck, Head of Events. “It’s the perfect atmosphere for real collaboration—with an ocean view.”
