Los Angeles, CA – October 2, 2025 — The spirit of South Central Los Angeles will shine brighter than ever as the community prepares for the first-ever Carnaval Latino, a grand cultural celebration organized by Councilmember Curren Price and Happy Group. Taking place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, this free family event will unite thousands of people to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through music, food, and tradition.
The highlight of the festival will be a historic tribute to one of the most iconic groups in Regional Mexican music — La Original Banda El Limón de Salvador Lizárraga. In recognition of their six decades of influence and contribution to Latin culture, the City of Los Angeles will officially proclaim “La Original Banda El Limón Day.” The band, recently featured by Billboard among the 75 most influential artists in the Regional Mexican genre, continues to bridge generations with their timeless music and enduring legacy.
Founded in 1965, La Original Banda El Limón has released over 50 professional albums and achieved 34 Billboard Top 40 hits throughout their remarkable career. With three Latin GRAMMY® Awards under their belt, they stand as pioneers and global ambassadors of banda music, inspiring millions across Mexico, the United States, and beyond.
“I’m proud to bring an event of this scale to South Central,” said Councilmember Curren Price. “This celebration is about unity, family, and pride. It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the beauty of our heritage while honoring legends who have shaped Latin music.”
The Carnaval Latino will feature a stellar lineup, including Banda Maguey, Baby Bash, Frankie J, Oro Sólido, Nina Sky, Amanda Perez, Paula DeAnda, Los Cadetes, Los Morros, El Es De La Sierra, Los Dinámicos, Sonora Dinamita, and Mellow Man Ace. Guests can also enjoy cultural showcases, traditional foods, and children’s entertainment — all completely free and open to the public.
