Los Angeles, California (August 20, 2025)- Director Bill Condon, known for his work on Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast, returns to the movie musical genre with the visually stunning fantasy, Kiss of the Spider Woman. The film, a dazzling Technicolor spectacle, is based on the acclaimed 1976 novel by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name.
The story centers on Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner, and his cellmate, Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. An unlikely bond forms between them as Molina entertains Valentín by recounting the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite diva, Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez).
Written for the screen and directed by Condon, the film adaptation stars Emmy Award nominee Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, and superstar Jennifer Lopez, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Luna. The film is a production by Josephson Entertainment, Tom Kirdahy, Greg Yolen, and Nuyorican, presented by Artists Equity and Mohari Media. It is produced by Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen.
