Los Angeles, California (July 17, 2025)- Breakout British band The Last Dinner Party are entering a new chapter with the announcement of their highly anticipated second album, From The Pyre, arriving October 17, 2025, via Island Records.
To mark the announcement, the band has shared the album’s lead single, “This Is the Killer Speaking,” a theatrical and haunting introduction to what promises to be one of the most compelling releases of the year.
Following the runaway success of their No.1 debut album Prelude to Ecstasy in 2023, the London-based quintet returned to the studio in late 2024 with Grammy-winning producer Markus Dravs (known for his work with Florence & The Machine, Björk, and Wolf Alice). The result is an album that doesn’t feel burdened by the pressure of following up a hit—it sounds like a band leaning into their artistic instincts, pushing boundaries, and enjoying every minute of it.
“This album is a collection of stories, tied together by the concept of the album-as-myth,” the band shared. “The Pyre is an allegorical place where these tales unfold—a space of destruction and violence, but also one of passion, regeneration, and light.”
From The Pyre delves deeper into character-driven storytelling without losing the emotional intimacy that defined their debut. The lyrics twist the mundane into the mythic: being ghosted turns into a Wild West standoff with a killer; heartbreak becomes a dark comedy played out against the end of the world. The band paints with a vivid brush—invoking rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, Mother Earth, Joan of Arc, and flaming infernos.
“This record feels darker, rawer, more grounded,” they explain. “It doesn’t take place at an opulent table—it takes place staring out across a sublime, burning landscape. There’s also more metatext and mischief—a knowing wink at ourselves as we evolve.”
Winners of two BRIT Awards this year—including Best New Artist—The Last Dinner Party have continued to captivate audiences across the globe. Their rapid rise has included multiple sold-out tours and three back-to-back sold-out shows at London’s Eventim Apollo. The buzz around From The Pyre suggests their meteoric success is only just beginning.
