Los Angeles, California (July 5, 2025)- A classic reborn — “El Duelo”, one of La Ley’s most iconic anthems, returns today in a bold new version by Beto Cuevas, featuring rising Argentine star Luz Gaggi. Produced by the legendary Humberto Gatica — whose credits include Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, and Luis Miguel — this fresh take strips the song down to its emotional core, leaning on sharp guitars and urgent delivery to recapture the timeless ache that made it a Latin rock staple.
Now available on all digital platforms, this rendition marks a dramatic shift from the acoustic territory Cuevas has explored in recent months on his Beto Cuevas Acústico tour. That journey was documented in a full concert special, now streaming on YouTube, filmed at Teatro Teletón in Santiago. But “El Duelo” signals a new energy — electric, unfiltered, and intimately collaborative.
“This version was born from the desire to revisit the song with a different energy — rawer, more urgent — and to share it with a voice that doesn’t belong to my generation, but feels the song as if it were her own,” shared Cuevas.
Enter Luz Gaggi — one of Argentina’s most compelling young voices and a two-time Gardel Award nominee for her debut album Altar. After her breakout on La Voz Argentina, Gaggi has quickly built an international following, recently opening for Paul McCartney in Buenos Aires and earning the Discovery Award at the 2025 Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC).
The live debut of the collaboration took place during LAMC’s Acoustic Showcase in New York, where Cuevas and Gaggi shared the stage in an intimate, stripped-down set that allowed “El Duelo” to speak louder than ever. The performance captivated a room of industry insiders and creatives, further solidifying Gaggi’s ascent and Cuevas’s continued evolution as an artist unafraid of reinvention.
While in New York, Cuevas also participated in a panel on “The Future of Publishing, Songwriting & Performance Revenues” and joined a special Q&A session hosted at Meta’s offices, underscoring his influence beyond the stage.
The release of “El Duelo” comes as Cuevas continues his Beto Cuevas Acústico Tour across Latin America, with upcoming shows in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina. Argentina, in particular, has embraced the tour with open arms — a sold-out date at Teatro Ópera in Buenos Aires has already led to an additional night added by popular demand.
