Guillermo Zapata is a man defined by unyielding perseverance, humility, and an intense gratitude for every step he’s taken. Coming from humble beginnings, he started washing dishes in Los Angeles and went on to produce and star in independent films like his latest, The Clouds. It centers on Pablo Prieto, a man whose life spirals into violence and crime following the accidental death of his brother. After saving a young student during a robbery, he finds purpose again in leading a gang of thieves targeting agricultural towns. But redemption proves elusive as betrayal creeps in and a former protégé-turned-judge returns to haunt him. The film is a suspenseful, emotionally charged ride that explores whether a man can ever truly escape his past.
The Clouds has already made waves across the international film circuit, earning invitations to festivals around the world and picking up major accolades along the way. The film was named Best Action Film and Best Actor for Guillermo Zapata at the 2024 Austin Action Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and also took home Best Action Script at the Toledo ActionFest 2024. With its gripping narrative and Guillermo’s commanding performance, The Clouds is proving to be a powerful debut. We highly encourage audiences to support Guillermo’s continued success by renting or streaming the film on Apple TV or Amazon. Watch it and witness firsthand the passion and perseverance that brought this project to life.
Sitting down with Guillermo, it’s easy to sense that his success hasn’t diminished his authenticity. Rather, it has amplified his grounded perspective, the cornerstone of his artistic vision, and his entrepreneurial mindset.
Born in Argentina as the son of a musician, Guillermo was imbued early with a love for music, performance, and a fighting spirit inherited from his late father. That is, Guillermo inherited not only a creative fire for music and art but also a deep well of perseverance. The rhythm of his father’s songs and the resilience with which he faced life’s challenges became Guillermo’s earliest lessons, fueling a drive that led him to pursue his dreams in the United States.
At just 22 years old, he left Argentina with nothing more than determination, ambition, and a willingness to endure whatever came next. He began as a dishwasher, working tirelessly while chasing auditions and writing scripts, eventually building a legacy in West Hollywood with the world-renowned SUR Restaurant and a successful career in the film and TV industry. “I didn’t have anything, but the desire to achieve things. And I’ve never lost that. I still have the same feeling and the same desire,” he reflects.
