Los Angeles, California (June 12, 2025)- As the summer season begins, Francisca Valenzuela is setting a vibrant tone for what promises to be one of the most dynamic chapters of her career. The Chilean-American artist, activist, and founder of the groundbreaking Ruidosa platform returns with fresh music, global collaborations, and a renewed commitment to systemic change in the music industry.
Leading this wave is the release of her new single “Big Baby Bogotá,” a genre-bending collaboration with GRAMMY-winning alt-rock icons Portugal. The Man and border-pop experimentalists Estereomance. Rich in emotional texture and sonic ambition, the track merges Valenzuela’s lyrical depth and vulnerability with Portugal. The Man’s expansive production and Estereomance’s dreamy flourishes. The result is a confessional, immersive piece of alternative pop that pulses with intimacy and global awareness.
“Collaborating with Portugal. The Man was a gift,” said Valenzuela. “I admire them deeply — not only for their music and creativity, but also for their commitment to social causes and their unique worldview. They approach life with curiosity, openness, and a global perspective. Working with them was a beautiful experience: generous, fun, and full of amazing energy in the studio. I’m so happy this song is finally seeing the light.”
“Big Baby Bogotá” is more than just a single—it’s a cultural statement. And it arrives just in time to set the tone for a summer of artistic resonance and political impact. On August 9, Valenzuela will bring the second New York edition of Ruidosa Fest to Lincoln Center’s prestigious Summer for the City series. With a lineup that includes Snow Tha Product, J Noa, YEИDRY, Empress Of, MC Millaray, PAMÉ, and Sofía Rei, plus a Silent Disco led by Latin GRAMMY-winning Argentine DJ Tayhana, the event promises to be one of the most powerful showcases of Ibero-American talent in the U.S. this year. Free and open to the public, it will take place in the heart of Manhattan, spotlighting female and dissident voices in a cultural space that often overlooks them.
Since its founding in 2016, Ruidosa has grown into a crucial platform for gender equity in the Latin music scene. The movement is set to reach new heights this fall with its most ambitious edition yet: a two-day festival in Santiago de Chile on October 11 and 12. With a program featuring music, comedy, panels, and community events, this will be Ruidosa’s largest iteration to date—doubling down on its mission to amplify diverse voices in Latin America and beyond.
Valenzuela’s impact isn’t just felt on stage. Behind the scenes, she continues to lead conversations around representation and inclusion in the music industry. In partnership with major digital music distributors Believe and TuneCore, Valenzuela and Ruidosa are currently developing a first-of-its-kind study on gender equity in Latin American music. The research, which is now in its analysis phase and set for publication in August, investigates the visibility of women in festival lineups across the region as well as the prevalence of women in executive leadership roles. The aim is to offer hard data that can be used to challenge norms, shape policy, and push the industry toward meaningful reform.
This isn’t uncharted territory for Valenzuela or Ruidosa. Past studies in 2016 and 2018 had real-world policy implications—most notably in Argentina, where they contributed to the implementation of the country’s festival quota law, mandating gender parity on lineups. Inspired by this precedent, similar legislative proposals are in progress in Chile, Uruguay, and Mexico.
With new music in rotation, international festivals on the horizon, and transformative work happening both on and off the stage, Francisca Valenzuela once again proves herself to be one of the most innovative and socially engaged voices in Latin music today. “Big Baby Bogotá” may be the soundtrack to her summer, but the impact of her vision is poised to resonate far beyond the season.
