Los Angeles, California (May 21, 2025)- LatiNation Media, the bilingual, culture-first Latino-owned media company, in partnership with CALÓ News and comedian/actor Al Madrigal, has been honored with a Bronze Telly Award in the Public Interest & Awareness category for their 2024 video campaign Stop the Dis(Information). The short-form series was created to combat the spread of disinformation, hoaxes, and “fake news” that circulated throughout the Latino community during the 2024 election cycle.
The nine-episode campaign aired on LATV’s linear network, the LatiNation app, and CALONews.com. With Al Madrigal at the helm as both star and executive producer, the series used sharp storytelling and humor to address the critical issue of misinformation in a vulnerable electorate. Madrigal, known for his roles in comedy and social commentary, collaborated with Jason Ross, a former writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, to craft each episode’s message with both clarity and urgency.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this short-form series for presenting an honest and factual approach to discussing the spread of disinformation among Latino voters,” said Madrigal. “While our work is far from over, I hope we continue to rise with one voice to identify and squash anyone intentionally sowing confusion in our community.”
The campaign was developed and produced by CALÓ News and LatiNation Media/LATV, with executive producers Flavio Morales, Martin Albornoz, Andrés Palencia, and Bruno Seros Ulloa. Recognized among more than 13,000 entries from video creators and broadcasters worldwide, Stop the Dis(Information) was selected by the Telly Awards Judging Council for its cultural relevance and civic impact.
“We are honored to be awarded the Bronze Telly for this series,” said Andrés Palencia, CEO of LatiNation Media. “It was an important campaign that we were all passionate about producing and sharing. We believe in the freedom and rights our election process affords, and we hope the message of dispelling disinformation continues to be pushed to the top of the conversation.”
Bruno Seros Ulloa, President and COO of LatiNation Media, noted, “To see it recognized is not just an honor—it’s a reminder that storytelling can be a powerful force in protecting the values that define our democracy.”
Martin Albornoz, General Manager of CALÓ News, emphasized the need for ongoing vigilance. “We will continue to report on ways to identify and combat disinformation. We want to give our audience the tools to beat this new form of propaganda.”
The Telly Awards, now in their 46th year, honor excellence in video and television across all screens. The full list of this year’s winners can be found at www.tellyawards.com/winners.
