Fans of Sia will soon have the chance to experience one of the most acclaimed performances of her career on the big screen, as “Sia: Nostalgic For The Present” heads to cinemas around the world next month.
The concert film captures the Australian singer-songwriter’s celebrated 2016 Coachella set, a performance widely remembered for its ambitious visual storytelling and theatrical production. The limited run will begin on July 23 through Trafalgar Releasing, bringing the show to the large screen nearly a decade after its original festival debut.
Rather than relying on a traditional concert format, the performance blended live music, dance, film and performance art into a carefully choreographed spectacle. Throughout the set, Sia was joined by a cast of actors and dancers, including frequent collaborator Maddie Ziegler, alongside appearances from Kristen Wiig, Paul Dano, Ben Mendelsohn, Gaby Hoffmann and Tig Notaro.
The film showcases many of the songs that helped establish Sia as one of the defining pop artists of the 2010s. Hits from 1000 Forms of Fear, including “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” appear alongside tracks from “This Is Acting,” such as “Cheap Thrills” and “Unstoppable,” highlighting a period that saw her become one of the world’s most streamed artists.
Trafalgar Releasing stated that the theatrical release offers fans an opportunity to revisit a defining cultural moment in an immersive setting. Nearly ten years after its Coachella debut, the performance remains one of the festival’s most visually ambitious productions and a standout chapter in Sia’s live legacy.
