Spotify is expanding deeper into live music with the launch of Reserved, a new ticketing feature that will give select Premium subscribers early access to concert tickets from their favorite artists.
Set to roll out in the United States this summer, the initiative will reserve up to two tickets per tour for what Spotify describes as an artist’s most dedicated fans. The streaming company has partnered with Live Nation Entertainment as the feature’s launch collaborator through a new multi-year agreement, with additional ticketing and promoter partnerships expected in the future.
Unlike traditional presales, Reserved will operate using dedicated ticket inventory specifically set aside for Spotify superfans rather than drawing from existing presale allocations. Eligible users will receive notifications through email and the Spotify app, granting them a limited purchase window before tickets become available to the general public.
According to Spotify’s Head of Music, Charlie Hellman, the platform will determine fan eligibility using a broad range of listening behaviors rather than simply counting streams. Metrics include active listening habits, saved tracks, shares, long-term engagement and other indicators designed to identify authentic fandom instead of automated or bot-driven activity.
Spotify says the initiative is intended to reward dedicated listeners while helping artists connect directly with their most engaged audiences. Hellman described the program as one of the company’s most significant additions to its Premium offering in recent years.
The move also highlights Spotify’s growing focus on live events and fan engagement as competition intensifies across the streaming industry. While rumors previously suggested early ticket access would be tied to a higher-priced “superfan” subscription tier, Spotify has instead folded Reserved into its standard Premium membership at no extra cost.
The company has increasingly positioned live music as a major part of its platform strategy. Spotify currently works with dozens of ticketing partners worldwide and says its concert integrations have already generated more than $1.5 billion in ticket sales for artists.
Reserved builds on Spotify’s earlier Fans First program, which offered select listeners access to presale codes, but introduces a more exclusive structure centered entirely around Premium subscribers and reserved inventory.
