Warner Music Group takes the world of technology by storm

Warner Music Group ( WMG ) has been named as one of Time 100 Most Influential Companies. The blending of protection and innovation has ensured that artists and songwriters will benefit from technology. However, there is concern that this will devalue the output of human-made music. Therefore, “Instead of boycotting the new tech, CEO Robert Kyncl says WMG is on a mission to shape it.”

It is important that for companies to represent artists and songwriters. Companies like Suno, Udio, Klay, and Stability AI have stood up for them using the NO FAKES Act, which protects the voice and likeness people from unauthorized AI-generated re-creations. WMG is build on three pillars: (i) lobbying for the NO FAKE Act; (ii) forging partnernships with AI music companies; and (iii) installing clauses in each deal that give artists and songwriters the choice to opt in or out of any use of their name, image, likeness, or voice in AI-generated songs. Kyncl has indicated that the reason why he cares about the music industry is because they do it because they care.

WMG has been named the most important proponent in the deal. In fact, WMG settled its copyright lawsuit with Suno and struck a deal with the AI music generator in November. WMG has also settled with Udio announcing partnershop with Stability AI.

The NO FAKES Act was retroduced in Congress in April 2025 supporting three major music companies as well as tech companies including Google, Amazon, and OpenAI.

On another note, Spotify was named by TIME’s inaurugral TIME100 Companies: Industry Leaders list – an extention of TIME100 franchise the 10 Most Influential Entertainment Companies of 2026. Spotify has focused on the growth on video podcasing rather than music streaming.

WMG has also appeared on the entertainment industry leaders list.

Kyncl has stressed that WMG’s partners must commit to license models to reflect the value of music and to show artists and songwriters that they must opt use their name, image, likeness and voice in new AI-generated recordings.
