TuneCore is expanding its artist services offering with a new royalty advance program, partnering with fintech firm RoyFi to provide upfront funding for independent creators.
The initiative, branded TuneCore Direct Advance, allows eligible artists to access cash advances against their future royalties, without giving up ownership of their music or equity in their careers. Instead, artists repay the advance through a portion of their incoming royalties until the balance is fully recouped.
Structured as a flat-fee model, the program is designed to offer flexibility. Artists can choose between a larger upfront payment or a more gradual recoupment structure, including how much of their catalog is tied to repayment. Once the advance is paid off, RoyFi’s claim on those royalties ends automatically.
The move reflects a growing demand for alternative financing in the independent sector, where artists often need capital for recording, marketing, touring, or day-to-day expenses, but want to avoid traditional label deals that require long-term rights agreements.
TuneCore, owned by Believe, framed the partnership as part of its broader push to support artist independence. Chief Business Officer Brian Miller emphasized that the goal is to provide financial tools that allow artists to scale their careers while maintaining creative and commercial control.
For RoyFi, the deal extends its footprint in music finance by embedding its infrastructure directly within a major distribution platform. CEO Peter Harvey described the partnership as a way to deliver “transparent, artist-first funding” at scale.
The launch builds on TuneCore’s continued growth in the self-releasing market. The platform distributes music to more than 150 services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and TikTok, while allowing artists to retain 100% of their royalties through a subscription-based model.
It also complements the company’s Accelerator program, which has driven 50 billion streams and 15 billion track discoveries since launching in 2023, now supporting over half a million artists globally.
