A quarter-century after “Bleed American” reshaped alternative rock, Jimmy Eat World is honoring the milestone with an ambitious North American tour and a series of landmark U.K. dates. The run begins June 9 at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and stretches through the fall, culminating with a long-awaited return to Vans Warped Tour in Orlando this November.
The Arizona band’s reappearance at Warped, where they’ll perform across all five cities, carries significant memories. It’s their first time back on that stage in 25 years, closing a circle that began in the early 2000s when the album first propelled them from local gems to radio stars. Overseas, the group will play three major U.K. shows in August, including sold-out nights at The Piece Hall in Halifax and Cardiff Castle, before headlining London’s Gunnersbury Park, which will be the largest British date of their career.
Originally released in July 2001, “Bleed American” became a defining record of its era, earning platinum status in the U.S. and gold certification in the U.K. Its breakout single, “The Middle,” remains a cult classic, recently surpassing one billion streams on Spotify. More than a commercial triumph, the album helped lay the groundwork for the next wave of emo and pop-punk acts, influencing bands from Fall Out Boy and Paramore to Taking Back Sunday and The Wonder Years.
As they revisit the material, the band is approaching it with renewed and lived-in perspective. Frontman Jim Adkins has emphasized a desire to savor the moment, promising a production that reflects years of growth onstage. The shows will feature the album performed in full, alongside additional surprises.
Select dates will include support from an eclectic lineup spanning generations of alternative music, including Rise Against, Sunny Day Real Estate, Thrice, Motion City Soundtrack, and PUP, among others.
Presales began February 11, with general ticket sales opening February 13. For a band whose defining record has only grown in stature, this anniversary tour is a return to the roots that shaped what alternative music looks like today.
